FIAT + Chrysler = FCA

La fusión entre la casa italiana y la norteamericana había comenzado en el 2009 cuando, por la crisis mundial del momento, la empresa Chrysler se veía en serios problemas económicos, por lo que FIAT compró el 20% de sus acciones. Finalmente, la fusión terminó a principios de este año cuando la marca italiana adquirió el 100% de las acciones de la otra. La alianza no sólo constituyó un gran beneficio para Chrysler, ya que de no ser por sus ganancias, que el año pasado fueron de US$ 1.951 millones, FIAT estaría en rojo. En 2013 las pérdidas fueron de 911 millones de euros, en rojo más vivo que los 787 millones que perdió en 2012.
Si bien muda su sede legal a Holanda y la fiscal a Gran Bretaña no cambia la propiedad del nuevo séptimo grupo global, que está en manos italianas. Esto representa un shock, porque ahora las cosas no se ven más desde el Lingotto de Turín, sede del grupo FIAT. En mayo será presentado un nuevo plan estratégico.
Según se declara en un comunicado lanzado por FIAT el pasado 29 de enero desde Turín: "Después de una primera fase de convivencia de las dos marcas - testimonio de la voluntad de realizar la unión respetando las raíces históricas, culturales y productivas de las dos empresas - hoy es necesario para Fiat y Chrysler tener una nueva identidad que represente la realidad empresarial que es mucho más que la suma de cada individuo de la cual se generó, fundada sobre importantes valores, una cultura corporativa específica, una visión común y compartida y un grupo de talla internacional."
Así entonces han decido crear un nuevo nombre y logo para la marca que, según explican ellos: "El uso de un acrónimo ayuda a disolver los vínculos con el pasado, sin cortar las raíces y al mismo tiempo contribuye a definir el enfoque global del grupo. Fácil de comprender, de pronunciar y recordar, es un nombre apto para un mercado internacional contemporáneo." El nuevo nombre es "Fiat and Chrysler Automoviles"

As stated in a press launched by FIAT on last January 29th from Turin: "After a first coexistence phase of both brands - testimony of the volition to make the union respecting the historical, cultural and productive bases of both companies - today is necesary for Fiat and Chrysler have a new identity that represents the business reality wich is a lot more than the sum of each individual from wich was generated, founded on important values, a specific corporate culture, a common and shared vision and a group of international stature."
So then they had decided to create a new name and a new logo for the brand that, as they explain: "The use of an acronym helps to dissolve the links with the past, without cutting the roots and, at the same time, it contributes to define the global focus of the group. Easy to understand, pronounce and  remember, it is a name suitable for an international contemporary market." The new name is: "Fiat and Chrysler Automobiles".
